The Nail Chronicles: 20 Life Lessons I Learned From Remarkable Women…

nail-tech-chronicles_book2016 started out a little rocky to say the least. Personally I rang in the New Year miserable. I was in a ‘job’ I hated with people I didn’t like and that didn’t like me to be honest. However, on May 22, 2016, I got up from my desk, grabbed my light pink Coach crossbody and walked out the door. I couldn’t waste another minute of my life in that chair, with that company or with those people.

At the time, the only thing I knew was I’d rather being chatting with clients in a salon than sitting in this call center gaining weight and dying inside. It was the best decision I made for myself.

I didn’t know that by the end of 2016, I would have met so many wonderful people. Serving so many unique women doing exactly what I wanted to do – nails.

Last month, I was thinking about what I could do to raise money for Alternatives for Girls, Inc. One of the first non-profits that allowed me to come in and do nails on a volunteer basis for girls housed there. It has been over ten years and this year was special to me. Because I learned so much about myself this year. One being that giving your life away is a privilege, not an obligation.

This and many others are things we must embrace in order to grow into women that will further the strength, endurance, and happiness that every community thrives on. The young women of Alternatives for Girls would benefit from the knowledge of the women that have sat in my chair this year. I further hope that you will find strength and encouragement as I did in these pages.

More than that, I wanted to do something special for my clients who had been consistent and touched my life in a way that helped me recover some of the damage that comes from staying in a negative space too long. I felt that each of these women were examples. They are all courageous and caring. I felt a book honoring them would be the biggest group hug I could give them this year.

The features are not in any particular order. But my hope is that each person listed will feel as honored as I have by serving them.

For a limited time, I will also be supplying a nail kit for each book sold to the young ladies that participate in Alternatives for Girls programs for Christmas.
