President-Elect Trump’s Win Does Not Mean The End

The Upset

Well, it’s the morning after one of the most divisive Presidential elections that I can remember in my 20+ years of voting. President-elect Donald Trump’s win will make him the 45th President of The United States of America.

As much as I love politics and my clients have come in talking about the election over these last few months. I have had very little to say on the subject. Why? Because I didn’t want to vote this time around. I didn’t like either candidate. And you know the old saying, “Never talk religion or politics with people that you care about.”

The Next Morning

Post-election morning has been hard for me. And not for the reasons that you might think. I’m saddened by all of the fear that I hear and see.  I walked into American Coney Island to grab my coney favorite and to say a quick, “Hello,” to the guys behind the counter. It was obvious that one of them had been crying.

Yes, a usually chipper guy. The one I never have to tell how I want my coney even if it’s six months since I had my last one, looked obviously shaken. His co-worker shared with me that he had been crying all night. I felt the tears coming to my eyes. He had family members that were immigrants. (***tears***)

I was sad that he was sad. But I told him what I am telling each of you, my readers and my clients alike, “Everything is going to be alright.”

President-elect Trump has carried himself horribly throughout the campaign and not too much better before the campaign.

president-elect-trumps-winAlthough, he is the President now, we must remember that we have an interwoven system of government that has checks and balances in it.

Maybe some of you don’t remember but President Richard Nixon was impeached by his own party. Am I saying that President-elect Trump will be impeached? No. But what I am saying is that for all intents and purposes his own party is not overjoyed with him being in office.

President-elect Trump’s win means that he has to prove himself in this new job or guess what?! He can lose his job just like anyone else. Even a President is vulnerable in a democracy when it comes to getting his agenda moving forward. Our system is built on balance and accountability. Don’t forget that.

Faith and Hope

Lastly, and more importantly, as a Christian, I believe in Jesus. My faith is in God, gives me hope and faith that things will balance themselves out. Things will be good for you if you believe in your heart that they will.

There is no doubt in my mind that things will change. However, we need to wait and see how they change before we get ready to throw in the towel and give up all hope in our country; our system of government.

We are all going to be okay. Because, in the end your happiness should not be tied into one person or persons. It should be tied to your faith in God.

Don’t let fear rule you hearts, because what you fear you manifest.

Everything is going to be okay. 🙂
